Girls 14 years and older are eligible to attend.

Backpacking 101 teaches everything girls need to know to begin a true, multi-night wilderness adventure. Hikers gain the knowledge and skills they need to make important decisions about gear, clothing, and trip planning so that you can hit the trail feeling confident and self-sufficient. We'll drive out to the trailhead on Saturday morning to begin the hike to our campsite. Sunday we'll pack up, hike out, and return to the Hardesty Leadership Center that evening.

A required preparation meeting is included with this training. It will be held Thursday, March 23 at the Hardesty Leadership Center. We'll then have a gear check follow up on April 11. You will receive a supply list at the prep meeting. Backpacks will be provided if you do not have your own – if you do, bring it to the preparation meeting.

Transportation will be provided from the Hardesty Leadership Center. This is an individual event, not a troop activity.

Cancellation Policy

Refund & Cancellation Policy for Program Events & Activities

All activities require advance registration and payment by the registration deadline.

All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
In the event activity fees do not require a deposit, all payments made upon registration are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cancellations must be received before the registration deadline.
There are no refunds after the registration deadline.

The individual making the registration will be responsible for any balance due for:

cancellations received after the registration deadline
any balance due for girls who are "no shows"

On occasion, a third-party event will not allow us to offer a refund at any time after a registration has been made. This will be noted in the event description. In the event that GSEOK has to cancel a program, a full refund will be provided. This policy includes all methods of payment, including Cookie Credit.
