7th grade and older:
The Canoe Level 2 course adds to girl’s knowledge and skills learned in Canoe Level 1 by introducing the maneuvers needed to paddle on moving water (rivers). The course includes learning to catch large eddies, performing simple ferries, recognizing and avoiding hazards, performing rescues and responding to emergencies on moving water. Girls will be paddling down the river while they learn. This session includes primitive camping near the Illinois River.
After the registration deadline you will receive a permission slip and a list of items to bring.
This is an individual event, not a troop activity.
Prerequisite: Girls must have completed a Canoe Level 1: Introduction to Canoeing course. Participants must be in good physical condition and be able to tread water and swim in water over their heads.
