Program Aide Core Training plus COGS module is for Girl Scout Cadettes (7th grade and above) who have completed a Cadette LiA (Leader in Action) and enjoy working with younger Girl Scouts.
PAs will learn to plan activities in which they can teach, lead discussions, or plan activities with younger Girl Scouts using the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) processes of girl led, cooperative learning and learning by doing. Girl Scouts should understand that this course includes planning and presenting individual projects as part of the learning experience.
In the COGS module (Crafts, Outdoors, Games and Songs) PAs will learn how to teach younger girls: outdoor flag ceremonies, outdoor safety, supplies and equipment care, knots and lashing, outdoor cooking, songs, games, and crafts.
Cadettes (7th grade and above) must have earned one Cadette LiA prior to attending the Core Training. Upon registering for the Core Training, Cadettes should submit information about which LiA they earned, what types of activities they carried out, and what type of setting they worked in to ebarnes@gseok.org
Seniors and Ambassadors (no prerequisites necessary) can attend to work on their leadership and outdoor skills, however, cannot earn their Program Aide pin as it is a Cadette only award.
- Any older girl that would like to assist with programs at day camp MUST complete this training.
- This is EXCELLENT experience for older girls that aspire to be a part of our C.I.T. (Counselor-In Training) Program at resident camp.
This is an individual event, not a troop activity.
After the registration deadline, registrants will receive an email with more details, a permission slip, list of items to bring, etc. This information will be sent to the email associated with your doubleknot account.
